KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- At first glance, ESPN analyst Todd McShay's selection of Ohio State safety Vonn Bell for the Kansas City Chiefs in his latest mock draft makes sense. Three of the Chiefs' top safeties in Eric Berry, Husain Abdullah and Tyvon Branch are potential free agents.
Three things about that, though. First, the Chiefs won't be desperate for safeties by the time the draft rolls around. They'll either have re-signed Berry, Abdullah and Branch or replaced them through free agency. The Chiefs have been active and successful in finding safeties at lower cost through free agency in recent years with Adbullah and Branch being a couple of the examples.
