KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Nick Foles era as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback appears to be over after one game. The Chiefs are preparing for Alex Smith to return to their lineup for next Sunday’s game against the Panthers in Carolina. Foles will return to his usual role as the backup.
But if the Chiefs need Foles to fill in for Smith later in the season, they’ll be better off for having him in their lineup for Sunday’s 19-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Foles wasn’t as sharp as he was when replacing Smith in the previous week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
