For the Kansas City Chiefs, achieving the ultimate goal this season may depend on how much the squad’s defense resembles the Super Bowl-winning unit of last year.
After some troubling moments midway through the season, there are encouraging signs. The Chiefs have now held four consecutive opponents to under 20 points. After struggling much of the season to get turnovers, the defense has eight takeaways over the past two weeks.
Speaking before Monday’s practice, linebacker Nick Bolton credited the team’s defensive line for the recent improvement.
“It’s starting to heat up,” he said of the teammates in front of him on the field.
