After a huge backlash from some fans, there was less and less talk about the NFL and the protests during the playing of the national anthem as last season progressed.
But perhaps wary of renewed problems during the 2018 season, the owners reportedly are discussing new rules for players during the playing of the anthem.
On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported that this idea was being discussed: "Leaving it up to home team on whether teams come out for the anthem; if teams do come out for the anthem, potential that teams could be assessed 15-yard penalties for kneeling.
