Mike Floro of Pro Football Talk reports that the new 10-year, $100 million contract given to Jon Gruden to become the Raiders head coach is backloaded, with less than $10 million per year being paid in the early years.
A league source tells Florio that Gruden will make closer to $5 million per year in the early years of the agreement and then $10 million annually afterward.
There’s an obvious reason for this, which is that Gruden will pay California state tax of 13.3 percent, but there won’t be any state income tax once the team officially relocates to Las Vegas.
