Mike DeVito’s nine-year NFL career, the last three with the Chiefs, is over.
DeVito, who started five games at defensive end for the Chiefs’ playoff team last season, announced his retirement Monday. The message came in letter posted on the Bangor (Maine) Daily News site. DeVito played his college ball at the University of Maine.
“I want to thank the New York Jets, the Kansas City Chiefs and all the amazing people I have met throughout my career,” DeVito wrote. “To all my family, friends and fans, thank you for making an average player feel like a Hall of Famer.
