Miami Dolphins sign former Chiefs tight end Gavin Escobar

One year ago at this time, Gavin Escobar was the exciting, under-the-radar find that would help boost the tight end role behind Travis Kelce for the Kansas City Chiefs. Twelve months later, he’s latched on with yet another team—this time, the Miami Dolphins—in hopes of finally finding a place to land for longer than a few months at a time.

The Chiefs signed Escobar to a one-year deal in free agency last year in the hopes that a classic change of scenery would work wonders for the former second round pick. Praised for his catching ability, Escobar was a big investment for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2013 NFL Draft as they hoped to find Jason Witten’s heir apparent and also add an intriguing target for two-TE sets on offense.
