The Kansas City Chiefs want to run the football more, according to offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who joined reporters early Thursday afternoon.
“You got a pretty good quarterback back there,” started Nagy, “but then you also have to be able to understand, too, that when you’re dropping back 45 times a game, it can be advantageous to the defense. They can pin their ears back, so there’s a there’s a balance.”
The lack of balance Nagy is referring to is the fact that the Chiefs only ran the ball 14 times against the Las Vegas Raiders in last week’s “Black Friday” matchup compared to 46 pass attempts from Patrick Mahomes.
