The man who police have said killed former Chiefs running back Joe McKnight was charged with manslaughter on Monday after the alleged “road rage” incident.
According to multiple reports, Ronald Gasser was arrested and charged in Jefferson Parrish. The New Orleans Advocate first reported that news.
Last Thursday, McKnight was shot three times during an incident in Terrytown, La., and police said Gasser admitted to the shooting. Gasser was inside his car at the time and McKnight was reportedly at the window of Gasser’s car. After questioning by the authorities, Gasser was released.
The New York Times reported that during a news conference last Friday, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand told reporters that in Louisiana there were some “relative statutes that provide defenses to certain crimes” and that the authorities would need to determine whether the shooting was justified.
