Last week when the Chiefs released veteran defensive tackle Jaye Howard it became clear that the Chiefs like their young talent already on the roster. After considering the longer term effects and looking at coming contracts, it also became more likely the team bolster the defensive line unit in the 2017 draft.
Dorsey met with the media and discussed a number of aspects of planning this draft. He acknowledged the weakness of the offensive line class and lauded the strength and depth of the edge rusher group. Specifically, he went out of his way to point to out the large number of edge rushers that fit in a 4-3 defense but that there is a group of players that can stand up as 3-4 outside linebackers as well.
