Laurent Duvernay-Tardif’s injury sounds more serious than originally reported by the Chiefs.
Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said Wednesday that Duvernay-Tardif, the starting right guard, sustained a Maisonneuve injury, which involved torn ankle ligaments, as well as a fractured fibula.
Duvernay-Tardif will have surgery Monday in Green Bay, Wis.
“It’s a little bit worse than we originally thought,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.
The thought after Sunday’s victory over Jacksonville was that Duvernay-Tardif could return later in the season. Reid didn’t commit to that idea on Wednesday.
“There’s a chance,” Reid said. “I wish I could predict it.
