KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Special teams coordinator Dave Toub’s guidelines for the Kansas City Chiefs' kickoff returners are simple. Toub tells them to in essence return everything they can get their hands on, as opposed to taking a touchback on kickoffs that go into the end zone.
Those rules didn’t produce a return for a touchdown in the regular season for the Chiefs, for the first time since Toub arrived in Kansas City in 2013. But they did on the opening kickoff of the first-round playoff game against the Houston Texans.
Knile Davis, mindful of Toub’s advice, brought out that kickoff from six yards deep in his own end zone.
