The Kansas City Chiefs usually celebrate the start of the NFL season with "Red Friday" before the team's first home game. This year, the Chiefs first home game comes on a Thursday night in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos.
Thus, Red Friday will become Red Thursday.
"This year, Red Thursday is going to capture all of the annual Red Friday excitement from around the city and match that with the energy and vigor that our fans and all of Chiefs Kingdom feel on gameday," Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said in a statement.
