Eight different starting quarterbacks. Six different head coaches. 21 total years. That’s how long it’s been since the Kansas City Chiefs had the No. 1 seed heading into the NFL playoffs.
After a shaky second half of the season, the Chiefs have achieved a feat no Chiefs team has done since former quarterback Elvis Grbac and head coach Marty Schottenheimer did it back in 1997: secured the top seed for the AFC postseason.
The beginning of the season was a high-flying, joyous time for the Chiefs and its fans, week in and week out. As the middle of the season approached, the Chiefs’ defense caused it to fall to the New England Patriots in a heart-racing game in Foxborough.
