Head coach Andy Reid made a couple adjustments to his coaching staff for the Kansas City Chiefs recently as the team announced on Sunday the arrival of a new face and a promotion for another.
Mike Kafka, formerly the team’s quarterbacks coach, has had his title amended to quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator. It’s an interesting switch that likely brings Kafka even more into the fold of decision-making at the highest level, a move that should prepare him even more to likely take over for offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy if/when he receives a head coaching offer.
Kafka began his NFL career as a quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2010, and when it was time to start his coaching career, it wasn’t long until Reid gave him a chance to be on his staff.
