On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced they have released cornerback Shaquille Richardson, per the team’s official Twitter page. Richardson was singed in February with the expectation of competing in training camp for a spot alongside Sean Smith, Marcus Cooper, Phillip Gaines and Jamell Fleming.
Richardson was originally a fifth-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers last May, but was released after reaching an injury settlement with the team. Richardson has adequate size, coming out of the University of Arizona at 6’0 and 194 pounds. As a senior in 2013, Richardson started all 13 games and nabbed three interceptions.
