The Kansas City Chiefs decided to break up the college teammate pairing of Ashton Lampkin and Jordan Sterns on Thursday with the announced release of Sterns after the team had signed veteran defensive tackle Roy Miller. Miller’s deal was announced on Wednesday, and Sterns was the corresponding roster move on Thursday.
Sterns and Lampkin both signed with the Chiefs after going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft. The pair of Oklahoma State teammates have played together for years now and were excited to enter the NFL together on the same team. The pair stayed the course throughout the spring and one week into camp, but clearly Lampkin had the edge at this point as the team cut ties with Sterns.
