It looks like Jason Verrett won’t be making that free agent visit to Kansas City after all. Instead, the San Francisco 49ers announced they’d reached a one-year agreement worth $3.6 million with Verrett during his visit on Wednesday.
Verrett was a free agent cornerback on a whirlwind tour to three interested parties of which the Chiefs were the last. The Houston Texans were reportedly interested and next on his visit list, but the Niners never let him leave and gained a nice buy-low option in the secondary because of it.
Verrett entered the NFL with the San Diego Chargers as the team’s first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
