Nancy Kerrigan’s knees had just been clubbed, Bill Clinton was preparing his first State of the Union address, and the Chiefs faced a franchise that now plays in a different state, in a building that no longer hosts professional football, in an NFL playoff game virtually nobody expected them to win.
