Halftime Recap: Chiefs Trail Panthers, 17-3, in Carolina

The Carolina Panthers lead the Kansas City Chiefs, 17-3, after two quarters of play from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Quarterback Cam Newton is 11 of 19 for 157 yards and a touchdown passing, and he has 43 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground.

The Chiefs won the toss and deferred to the second half, so the Panthers received the ball first.

Newton got the Panthers to as far as the Kansas City 24-yard line, but on third-and-7, linebacker Tamba Hali and defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches pressured him and he had to throw the ball away.
