Former Chiefs assistant Brad Childress joining Matt Nagy in Chicago

It appears former Chiefs assistant Brad Childress’ retirement was short-lived, as he has agreed to join the Chicago Bears as an offensive consultant, a source confirmed to The Star.

Childress, 61, is an Aurora, Ill., native who had been a part of coach Andy Reid’s staff in Kansas City since 2013. He had served in multiple roles, including co-offensive coordinator (with Nagy) and assistant head coach a year ago.

When Nagy was hired by the Bears last month, he thanked Reid and Childress. Nagy spoke of Childress in glowing terms.

“My partner in crime,” Nagy said then of Childress.
