The improved play of defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton has been one of the most pleasant surprises the Kansas City Chiefs have had this season. A productive undrafted free agent in both 2020 and 2021, he missed most of 2022 with a torn ACL — and his play dipped as he continued to recover from that injury in 2023. But Kansas City was convinced Wharton was a player worth keeping. In March, the team signed the former undrafted free agent from Missouri S&T to a one-year, $2.75 million contract.
Coming into the season, I was dubious that Wharton would ever again be a significant contributor.
