Film review: 3 notes on Chiefs’ defensive front against the Jaguars

Coming into the 2024 season, the Kansas City Chiefs are projected to have one of the NFL’s top defenses. While this is based on the unit’s elite performance a year ago, it did not retain every contributor from its championship run; in the team’s quest for a third straight Super Bowl title, the defense will look different.

During training camp, the battle for the second cornerback spot stalled when multiple competitors were sidelined with injuries. The safety group — including rookie safety Jaden Hicks — has played to expectation; during Saturday’s 26-13 road loss in the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, Hicks made a strong first impression as a tackler in space.
