Father of Chiefs long snapper killed in Oklahoma City shooting on Tuesday

The father of Chiefs long snapper James Winchester was murdered in a shooting Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma City Police Department announced that Michael Winchester, an employee of Southwest Airlines, was shot in a parking lot at Will Rogers World Airport.

The Chiefs have been made aware of the incident, The Star has learned.

Capt. Paco Balderrama of the OCPD says he believes Winchester was working at the time. When asked if the shooting could be tied to Winchester’s employment, Balderrama said it could be, but he did not know if the shooter and the victim knew each other.
