KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sometime last Friday evening, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley received a phone call from teammate and close friend Jeremy Maclin that would change his world.
“(Maclin) just let me know he wasn’t going to be here anymore, that we needed to take the things he’s taught us and move forward with it, that we know what to do and we’re ready,’’ Conley said after practice on Wednesday.
“I told him ‘Thank you’ . . . We’re very close. Jeremy is like a brother to me.’’
Just like that, with the release of Maclin the expectations for Conley went up dramatically.
