25-year-old Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs returned to the field last night, after fighting a battle against cancer – and winning.
Last December, Berry was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, an immune disease that interferes with the body’s capability to ward off infection. Last November, Berry underwent vigorous testing after noting pain in his chest; doctor’s found the cancerous mass that led to his diagnosis.
Berry fought the cancer with some rigorous chemotherapy and full love and support from his family. In late July, he remembered his struggle through the treatment referring to the process as “a monster.
