Drue Tranquill: the Chiefs’ defense is relying heavily on continuity

Heading into the NFL’s 2024 season, the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t add very much to a defense that allowed the second-fewest yards (and points) last season. While key players like cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. are gone, the team will depend on in-house options to replace their contributions.

Linebacker Drue Tranquill — now in his second year within defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s system — will be among those expected to step up. For him, things are easier this year.

“Last offseason in the OTAs, showing up here, I had no clue what was going on,” Tranquill admitted to reporters on Monday.
