According to KCChiefs.com's Pete Sweeney, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe underwent successful surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back on July 15.

The Kansas City Star's Terez A. Paylor reported Poe "stands a reasonable chance to return early in the season," while Sweeney noted that the run-stopper is slated to report to training camp Friday.
In the interim, Jaye Howard is slated to assume Poe's duties, per Paylor.
