KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- General manager John Dorsey added some drama to the decision by waiting until after the draft to announce it, but there was never much of a doubt the Kansas City Chiefs would exercise their fifth-year option on the contract of linebacker Dee Ford. The Chiefs’ first-round draft pick in 2014, Ford is now signed through 2018.
“That was a no-brainer decision," Dorsey said. “We’ve known all along we were going to exercise the option. I just wanted to prudently think about it. I wanted to have (Monday) morning to assess the situation and just kind of see how we turned out in the draft.
