The Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive tackle Chris Jones entered 2024 as one of the favorites for the NFL’s defensive player of the year award. But while Jones has been a dominant force through the team’s first five games, he has not accumulated the counting stats that lead to that kind of end-of-season hardware.
So far, however, Jones appears unconcerned about it.
“We’ve played five games, [and] I’ve got three sacks,” he told reporters before Thursday’s practice. “I’m not complaining. Like I say every year: I’ll get my numbers. Might be early. Might be later. I never really harp on, ‘I’ve got to get these certain numbers before this [date].
