Eric Fisher has yet to develop into one of the NFL's best left tackles as the Kansas City Chiefs envisioned when they made him the No. 1 overall pick in the draft in 2013. But he’s only 25 and still has time to get there.
The last thing the Chiefs should do with Fisher is give up on him too early and then watch him become that player for another team.
That’s why the Chiefs’ decision to exercise their fifth-year option on Fisher is a good one. It buys the Chiefs a little more time toward that goal, with Fisher now being under contract through the 2017 season.
