After months of patiently waiting, tight end Demetrius Harris returned to the field on Sunday.
Harris, who missed all of organized team activities and training camp while recovering from his second foot surgery, passed his physical Sunday and practiced for the first time in months. He was also taken off the physically-unable-to-perform list and added to the active roster.
Harris played in eight games last season as the Chiefs’ third tight end before he fractured his foot during pregame warmups before the Chiefs’ 17-13 win over Buffalo in November. He underwent surgery in the spring to fix a lingering problem.
