KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Laurent Duvernay-Tardif saw his Kansas City Chiefs teammate get hit in the backfield by the Philadelphia Eagles on a running play from the 2-yard line in last week’s game and set himself mentally for the next down.
“I was surprised myself when I saw the ref throwing his hands in the air,’’ said Duvernay-Tardif, one of the Chiefs’ starting guards.
There would be no next down for the Chiefs on this drive because Kareem Hunt found a way to overpower approximately a half-ton of Eagles defenders and score the touchdown that put Kansas City ahead by 14 points in the fourth quarter.
