Chiefs sign veteran safety and “special teams ace” in Robert Golden

The Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran safety Robert Golden, the team officially announced on Tuesday night.

Golden, 27, first entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with whom he spent the last six seasons. He is listed at 5 feet 11 and 202 pounds.

Golden adds depth to what was feeling like a fairly thin safety room behind Eric Berry. He has 12 career starts, including seven in 2016, two interceptions, seven passes defensed, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown. He has 125 career tackles (84 solo).
