According to Tuesday’s official NFL transactions report, the Kansas City Chiefs have brought a familiar face back to the team’s practice squad: defensive tackle Mike Pennel, a nine-year NFL veteran who collected a Super Bowl ring after joining the team midway through the 2019 campaign — and then remained with the squad through the following year, gaining a reputation as a very good run-stopper.
In all, Pennel appeared in 22 Kansas City games (starting one), registering 53 tackles (26 solo, two for loss), a sack and three quarterback hits.
Since then, the six-foot-4, 330-pound native of Topeka, Kansas spent 2021 with the Atlanta Falcons and 2022 with the Chicago Bears.
