The Kansas City Chiefs extended coach Andy Reid's contract on Thursday but said goodbye to general manager John Dorsey.
Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt announced that the team and Dorsey mutually agreed to part ways after the GM was told his contract wouldn't be extended past the 2017 season.
"We felt it was in his best interests and the best interests of the team to part ways now," Hunt said in a statement. "This decision, while a difficult one, allows John to pursue other opportunities as we continue our preparations for the upcoming season and the seasons to come.
