Over the past few seasons, the NFL has leaned into the idea of alternate helmets.
The league first approved a measure to allow for alternate helmets in 2021 — and this past offseason, it expanded its stance to include a third helmet design.
The Kansas City Chiefs have yet to take advantage of either measure, sticking with the mirrored “KC Arrowhead” on a red helmet with a white mask. Alternate uniforms and helmets have never been a priority for owner, chairman and CEO Clark Hunt. He likes the fact that his team’s look honors the deep-rooted tradition of the franchise.
