With right tackle Jeff Allen up in the air for this weekend, the Chiefs desperately needed to add some offensive line depth.

They did so at a price. The team released a top special teamer, linebacker Josh Martin, to make room for new offensive tackle Jah Reid, according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

Martin could still return. He suffered a concussion against the St. Louis Rams in the preseason finale that makes him IR-eligible should no team claim him.
