The Kansas City Chiefs on Friday released wide receiver Jeremy Maclin in a cost-cutting move. By releasing Maclin, the Chiefs saved in upwards of $10 million against the NFL salary cap.
“Crazy business this is…appreciate y’all #ChiefsKingdom,” Maclin tweeted after his release.
Maclin, a former star at Missouri, played two seasons for the Chiefs after signing five-year, $55 million deal in 2015. That season Maclin caught 87 passes for 1,088 yards and 12 touchdowns in 15 games. Maclin, however, battled injuries in 2016, catching a career-low 44 passes for 536 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games.
