According to the NFL transactions report, the Kansas City Chiefs have waived long snapper Drew Scott, who was only signed to the team in the past week.
The Chiefs announced Scott’s signing on Monday. It was confusing at first, since Kansas City has long depended on long snapper James Winchester to handle those special-teams duties.
But then we learned that Winchester had been added to the team’s Reserve/COVID list — meaning that the Chiefs were going to need a long snapper before training camp practices began on Wednesday. Otherwise, the remaining specialists were going to be idled as training camp began.
