Adam Schefter reports that the Chiefs have released DE Jaye Howard.
Howard, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He was in the final year of his two-year, $10 million contract that included $8.26 million and set to make a base salary of $3.7 million for the 2017 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Howard will free up $3.875 million of available cap space while creating $2.5 million in dead money.
In 2016, Howard appeared in eight games for the Chiefs and recorded 24 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.
