The first preseason game hasn’t even started, but the Kansas City Chiefs have already reverted to using the injured reserve designation on one of their recent signings. Linebacker Reshard Cliett was placed on IR on Tuesday after clearing waivers.
The Chiefs had released Cliett on Monday after signing defensive tackle Maurice Swain. Cliett had injured his finger previously during Chiefs camp, but the team hasn’t made an official announcement about the nature of Cliett’s reason for heading to IR. The NFL’s processes are such that any other franchise could have claimed Cliett after he was released/waived by the Chiefs.
