Chiefs make it official: Alex Smith, Spencer Ware out for Jaguars game

You knew it was coming, but the Chiefs made it official on Friday, announcing quarterback Alex Smith and running back Spencer Ware are out for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Blows to the head in last week’s 30-14 victory at Indianapolis shelved the Chiefs’ starting quarterback and running back. Smith didn’t have a concussion, according to the team, and is being held out as a precautionary measure. Ware was diagnosed with a concussion.

Additionally, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said running back Jamaal Charles, who is on injured reserve, had the meniscus in his right knee trimmed earlier this week.
