Chiefs lose guard Jeff Allen to sign with Texans, source says

One day after news broke about the impending departure of Donald Stephenson, the Chiefs’ offensive line took another blow Wednesday when offensive guard Jeff Allen decided he will sign with the Houston Texans in free agency, a source told The Star.

News of the deal, which is worth $28 million over four years, was first reported by Mike Garafalo of Fox Sports.

Allen, who is listed at 6 feet 4 and 306 pounds, was a part of an offensive line group that showed much more nastiness this year. Once the 26-year-old Allen was inserted into the starting lineup in mid-October, the Chiefs ran off a streak of 11 straight wins until their divisional-round playoff loss to the Patriots.
