Chiefs look to end home playoff drought against Steelers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The playoffs are a time when good teams become great. That separation defines a team, changing memories of a good regular season into something much more significant, and indeed more memorable.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been on the precipice of this before, but not in a generation. Sure, in 2003 the Chiefs went 13-3, won the AFC West and had a home playoff game against wild-card Indianapolis, but the Chiefs defense that season was sieve and Peyton Manning and the Colts walked away winners.

In 2010, the Chiefs again won the division but were routed by Baltimore 30-7 at home in the wild-card round.
