On Thursday night, neither the Kansas City Chiefs or Chicago Bears chose to depend on their starters in each team’s final preseason game — but the Chicago backups had a clear edge over Kansas City’s as they recorded a 34-21 road victory on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
First quarter
Harrison Butker sent the opening kickoff the goal line. DeAndre Carter returned the ball to the Chicago 27-yard line to begin the drive. Behind backup quarterback Tyson Bagent, the Bears quickly went deep into Chiefs territory with a 44-yard pass to wideout Nisimba Webster. The Chiefs appeared to have stalled the drive with a crushing sack on Bagent, but a holding call on cornerback Kelvin Joseph kept the Bears drive alive.
