For the second time this season, Chiefs safety Eric Berry has been named the AFC defensive player of the week.
The most recent performance, the Chiefs’ 29-28 victory at Atlanta, was an emotional one. Berry returned to his hometown for the first time since undergoing chemotherapy treatments at Emory University for Hodgkin lymphoma two years ago.
In the game, Berry returned a Matt Ryan interception 37 yards for a touchdown and a Ryan pass on a two-point conversion 99 yards for a defensive two-pointer.
The second return, with about 4 1/2 minutes remaining, provided the winning points for the Chiefs and is part of an interesting statistical note for the Chiefs.
