Chiefs linebacker D.J. Alexander is doing his part to give back to the community for the holidays.
On Saturday, the Chiefs’ special teams ace will be signing autographs and taking selfies in exchange for toy donations to benefit Children’s Mercy Hospital.
The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the Toys R Us at 11620 W. 95th Street in Overland Park.
“I’m just trying to give back to the community as much as I can and help build those young families that aren’t able to provide for themselves,” Alexander said.
People are asked to bring a new, unwrapped, non-violent toy to donate – toys can be purchased directly from Toys R Us at the event – and they’ll receive a picture or sports item autographed by the second-year pro, who could see his on-field responsibilities increase due to the recent season-ending injury to linebacker Derrick Johnson.
