Chiefs’ depth proves key for defense in win over Texans

Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo acknowledged that in Saturday’s win over the Houston Texans, his unit was resilient and adaptable — particularly in the wake of safety Chamarri Conner’s concussion in Week 15.

Rookie Chris Roland-Wallace has been in the rotation as a slot corner during Conner’s absence, delivering a performance that drew praise from Spagnuolo.

“I thought he did a great job,” he said. “He’s one of those guys that I’ve been real hopeful for all season long… the more reps he gets, the better he gets. He’s a real smart, intelligent football player with some instincts.
