Welcome to the Week 17 edition of our Kansas City Chiefs weekly player awards, where we focus on which players are on the rise and the top performers of the game on both sides of the ball.
The Chiefs’ defense stepped up in a crucial way, holding the Oakland Raiders to just 3 points. While it had some visible struggles, it held strong and created a heap of turnovers, including a pick-6 by safety Daniel Sorensen, one of two interceptions thrown by opposing quarterback Derek Carr on the day. Mahomes also capped off an impressive regular season, becoming just the second player in NFL history to throw for 50 passing touchdowns and 5,000 passing yards in a single season.
